Lahore - The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) shut down 64 illegal treatment centres in 13 cities of the province during the last week.
According to the PHC spokesperson, a major action was taken in the provincial capital as the PHC teams raided 81 treatment centres and sealed 10 of them.
Cumulatively, the teams raided 666 treatment centres in 13 cities, and they found nature of the business changed at most of these centres. The PHC, however, will keep 401 of these treatment centres under surveillance. As many as 38 qualified physicians were found providing treatment facilities at an equal number of centres.
The PHC closed down eight outlets each in Pakpattan and Bahawalnagar, seven each in Rawalpindi and Hafizabad, six in Multan, and five in Gujranwala.
In Lahore, Khurram Clinic, Asghar Jarrah, Smile Healthcare Centre, Ali X-Ray Centre, Punjab Dental Clinic, Ali Digital Lab, Farooq Dental Clinic, Zulfiqar Dandansaaz, Siddique Dental Clinic and Sufyan Dental Clinic were also sealed.
The PHC spokesperson maintained: “The PHC has raided over 117,000 treatment centres; it has shut down 35,510 illegal centres; and it has found nature of the business changed at 28,000 quackery centres.”
