PESHAWAR : Members of Tribal Quami Welfare Jirga, North Waziristan Agency, have demanded of the government to provide transportation facilities to tribal families compelled to migrate to safer places owing to ongoing military assault in the agency. While addressing a news conference here at Peshawar Press Club on Monday, Malik Gul Naeem said that a large number of tribal families were stranded in wake of the military operation in North Waziristan Agency. He said that owing to military action, road links, means of communication and electricity system were completely disconnected, causing immense difficulties for local tribal people. He added that daily use edible items and medicines were also not available owing to complete shutter down after imposition of curfew in the agency.
The routine life of the tribal people was in danger in the agency, he further said.
Accompanied by tribal elders and other members of the Jirga, including Maulvi Gul Yousaf, Maulvi Khalid Ahmad and Abdul Malak, Gul said the military operation Zarb-e-Azb has been creating immense difficulties for patriotic tribesmen of the North Waziristan Agency.  He urged the international human rights organisations and media to raise voice for rights of the marooned tribal people in NWA, and demanded of the government and Pakistan Army to make arrangements for shifting the affected population of the military operation to safer places, while curfew should be lifted.
He said the government should ensure opening of schools and other government institutions in areas of NWA where operation is not being carried out.
