Assistant Professor sentenced to eight years imprisonment for harassing female colleague in University

A private university's Dr. Farhan Kamrani has been sentenced to jail for harassing a female colleague on social media.

The culprit was found guilty of harassment after he created a fake Facebook profile of the female instructor without her consent. The convict was also charged a fine of 1.1 million rupees by the districts and session judge Khalid Hussain Shahani.

As he pronounced the verdict. the judge revoked the bail granted to Kamrani, after which he was arrested from the courtroom and remanded to jail, where he will now begin serving his sentence.

In 2016, the victim had filed a complaint with the FIA which stated that someone had posted a link to a profile on the page of the Greenwich University containing her fake pornographic pictures. After researching and following the complaint, the FIA had taken the social media website’s help and traced the accused to his residence, and also found evidence on his laptop that the Facebook account in question had been used on this computer.

The Defense Counsel had tried to protect the culprit by saying the evidence had loopholes and Kamrani could not be accused on the basis of it.

Ending the trial, the judge said that the prosecution had successfully established its case against the accused, while he, on the other hand, had failed to prove his innocence.
