Peshawar - Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Azerbaijan Ail Alizada inaugurated Nizami Ganjavi Lane in University Town here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Alizada called Peshawar one of the historical and nice cities. Nizami Ganjavi, in whose name the lane was inaugurated, was the national poet of Azerbaijan.
Alizada visited the University of Peshawar to inaugurate the memorial of the Azerbaijani poet, philosopher, and thinker Nizami Ganjavi (1141-1209). He also planted a sapling near the monument during his visit.
The ambassador also spoke to the local people during his visit. Some people on the occasion advised the ambassadors to visit and travel in the BRT bus. Earlier in a tweet, Alizada shared a video he had shot of the historic Bala Hisar Fort while travelling on the main GT Road. He said that inauguration of the Nizami Ganjavi Lane is “a great contribution to our fraternal relations with Peshawar.”
Meanwhile, a representative of the Nakhchivan State Customs Committee in Azerbaijan, Susanbar Agamaliyayeva told The Nation that Nizami Gancavi was the 12th century Azerbaijani poet and was the national poet of the country.
Susanbar, a PhD scholar in philology, added that Azerbaijan attached much importance to its relations with Muslims countries, particularly Pakistan.
Nizami Ganjavi, whose formal name was Jamal ad-Din Abu Muhammad Ilyas ibn-Yusuf ibn-Zakki, was a 12th-century Persian Sunni poet. He is considered the greatest romantic epic poet in Persian literature, who brought a colloquial and realistic style to the Persian epic. His heritage is widely appreciated and shared by Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, the Kurdistan region and Tajikistan
