Front desks to change thana culture: CPO

Wah cantt - City Police officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan has said that with the establishment of front desks in police stations, ‘thana culture’ would change.

He said that no one would hesitate to visit police station for registration of complaints with the deployment of non-police officials at front desk. He was talking to newsmen after attending an open court in Community Centre Taxila yesterday. DSP Sajid Gondal was also present on the occasion.

The CPO said that front desks will be set up in 13 police stations of Rawalpindi district to facilitate the citizens. He said that police stations which have been selected for establishment of front desks are Wah Cantonment, Mandra, Jatli, Gujar Khan, Kahuta, Rawat, Cantonment, New Town, Banni, Waris Khan, Civil Line, Saddar Baironi and City. He said that one room will be allocated on the front of respective police stations for establishment of front desks. He said that earlier front desks were set up in 10 police stations of Lahore to make their environment people-friendly.

Earlier addressing the open court, the CPO directed all the station house officers and post in-charges to remain present in police stations daily from 3:00 to 5:00pm to address the public complaints. He urged the officials to mend their ways of face action. He took serious notice of complaints about presence of liquor in Kolian police post area and sale of drugs in Bhabra and Wah Saddar police station areas. He also took notice of illegal sale of explosives to stone crushers. He said strict monitoring of the police officials is under way and anyone found guilty of sheltering criminals will face action.
