TARBELA GHAZI - Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Muzammil Hussain on Wednesday visited the underconstruction Tarbela 4th Extension Hydropower Project.
During his visit, the chairman had a detailed round of the various sites of the project. The visit was aimed at reviewing the progress on the project.
Speaking on the occasion, the chairman said it was a matter of satisfaction that with concerted efforts of the incumbent management of Wapda, construction work on the project has picked up pace.
He directed the project management to maximise their efforts for maintaining the pace of work, so that the project could be completed as per the rationalised timelines.
It is pertinent to mention that 1,410MW-Tarbela 4th Extension Hydropower Project is a component of least-cost energy generation plan, which is being implemented by Wapda on priority.
Under Tarbela 4th Extension Project, three generating units, each of them having capacity of 470MW, are being installed at Tunnel No 4 of Tarbela Dam.
With completion of the project, generation capacity of Tarbela Hydel Power Station would increase to 4,888MW from the existing 3,478MW.
