CTD Sindh arrests man involved in Sehwan attack

Counter Terrorism Department of Sindh has arrested a man who was involved in an attack on Shahbaz Qalander shrine that took place earlier this year.

According to Waqt News, CTD arrested the man from Karachi. His name has not been told to media persons as yet. 

Sindh Cheif Minister Murad Ali Shah was informed about the suspect's arrest by Inspector General A D Khawaja and Additional IG CTD informed Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah about the suspect's arrest.

A suicide bomber had attacked Lal Shahbaz Qalandar’s shrine in Sehwan on 16 February this year, killing at least 72 people and wounding dozens. ISIS had claimed responsibility for the attack.

In a press conference today, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) DIG Aamir Farooqi informed that suspect was arrested in a coordinated raid with Sindh Rangers.

He further added that Jakhrani alias Murshid was arrested in Manghopir area in Karachi city.

He also told the media that Shewan Sharif blast was planned at Dera Murad Jamali located in Nasirabad District in Balochistan.

All the group members who were involved in the attack have been identified by the officials are either dead or on the run, he added.

Aamir Farooqi said there are clear signs of “foreign involvement” behind the terror incidents in Pakistan including Sehwan blast.

Daesh’s Sindh chief has been killed by the law enforcement agencies as well he added.
