Lack of universities in Multan

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to express my concern about the lack of universities in our locality.

I belong to the city of Sofia Multan. Unfortunately, in my city, only one main public sector university is located. In my city, maximum people belong to the daily wages profession and cannot afford to study their children in private sector universities. Due to a lack of public sector universities, maximum people cannot study their children for lack of money, and the rate of literacy for higher education is low as compared to other parts of Punjab. Another reason is that the quality of education in overall south Punjab is not so good, so the majority of people who afford the educational expense of their children send their children either to Lahore or Islamabad. For this reason, they also pay extra money for hostel and transportation. For these two main reasons, the government should build a professional and qualitative institute in my city so the majority of the children get an education at the expense of fee or quality of education.

I request you to publish this grievance so that the authorities concerned realize the difficulty and look into the problem and do the needful. Thanks.

HAFIZ M TALHA,

Multan.
