Qureshi leaves for UAE, Iran, Turkey

ISLAMABAD - Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi left for Abu Dhabi on Saturday to meet the UAE leadership over rapid developments taking place in the region including Kashmir and Afghanistan.

During his visit to UAE from April 17 to 19, Qureshi would meet the Crown Prince of UAE and Foreign Minister and would discuss bilateral relations, cooperation in various fields between the two countries beside the latest security situation in the region.

Foreign Minister Qureshi would take the UAE leadership into confidence over the latest situation in IOK and future strategy for peace in Afghanistan.

It may be recalled that UAE played a vital role in the recent reduction of tension between Pakistan and India and normalcy at the line of control.

After completion of his UAE visit, the Foreign Minister would arrive in Tehran on April 20 on a three-day visit where he would meet President Rouhani and Foreign Minister and would discuss the latest security situation in the region. Foreign Minister Qureshi after visiting Iran would arrive in Istanbul on April 23, where he would attend an international peace conference jointly organised by Turkey and the United nations on April 24.

On the sidelines of the Turkish Afghan peace conference, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is expected to meet his counterparts from other countries. Indian and Pakistani foreign Ministers would also face each other in the conference. However, there are no indications of any sideline meeting between the two foreign ministers.
