NAB arrests two on corruption charges

PESHAWAR - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sunday arrested Naveed Qadir, land acquisition collector Provincial Housing Authority, and Muhammad Asif, front man, for their alleged involvement in corruption and illegally receiving more than Rs 18 million in connivance with PHA officials in purchase of land for a government housing scheme in Mouza Surezai, Peshawar.  Naveed Qadir was earlier arrested twice in two different cases and this is the third case in which he is rearrested.
According to details, Provincial Housing Authority (PHA), government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, planned to launch a housing scheme at Mouza Surezai Peshawar. PHA officials illegally planted accused Muhammad Asif as a front man and instead of making payment to the genuine land owners, paid the excess amount to Asif illegally and deprived the land owners of their fair compensation on one hand and caused loss to the exchequer by embezzling the excess amount on the other.
The both accused were involved in a Nathaigali land scam, where PHA (KP) by using the same modus operandi paid excess amount to the said accused Asif instead of land owners and caused loss more than Rs 400.00 million to the exchequer.
