COMSATS to hold int’l IT moot from today

Islamabad-The COMSATS will organise a three-day international conference on Frontiers of Information Technology, starting from Monday. Experts from across the country and delegates from 15 foreign countries would participate in the conference.

It is the fifteenth consecutive year that the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) is organising this event. Familiarity with technology is mandatory to enable a person to live and cope with challenges of the modern world.

“The CIIT bridges the gap to cope with confronting challenges” a senior official of the institute said on Sunday. He said that experts from countries including USA, UK, Japan, China and Australia were expected to attend the conference.  This conference is a premier forum for the presentation and exchange of experiences and innovative ideas in the field of ICT. The theme of this year’s conference is “Connecting with industry”, he said.

He said that the conference is annually organised aimed at focusing on modern trends pertaining to computer sciences, engineering and other related areas. Initially, he said, the event was organised as international workshop for six years and was then upgraded to an international conference.  The first international workshop on Frontiers of Information Technology was organised by COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Pakistan in collaboration with professors from University of Illinois, Chicago and Purdue University and was sponsored by HEC and NSF.

Since its inception, the conference provided a cohesive networking opportunity as well as a forum where state-of-the-art research in the area of Information and Communication Technology is shared.
