ISLAMABAD - Former president Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan People’s Party chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday strongly condemned suicide attack on a church in Quetta, killing several people and injuring many more.
Expressing deep grief over the loss of precious innocent lives, they vowed that the PPP would “stand by the side of the Christians and indeed all non-Muslims in the fight against all manifestations of barbaric, militancy and extremism.”
Zardari asked the workers to visit the victims' families and the injured to express solidarity with them.
The former president said that the attacks on citizens and security forces and the bloodletting of innocent people could not and must not be allowed to go on with impunity. He called for immediate, decisive and credible measures to stop this barbarism. Bilawal also sympathised with the victims’ families.
Meanwhile, PPP Senator Rehman Malik strongly condemned the terror attack on a church in Quetta. He expressed deep sorrows over the loss of precious lives and expressed heartfelt sympathies and condolences with the victim families.
The former interior minister termed the attack on Christian community prior to the Christmas, as an attack on the whole country and a move to destabilise and defame Pakistan before the international community.
He urged the federal and the provincial governments to increase and tighten security of churches across the country ahead of Christmas celebrations.
Malik telephoned inspector-general police Balochistan who briefed the senator about terror attack on the church, the suicide bombers and the quick operation by the police.
