ISLAMABAD-Auditor General of Pakistan Javaid Jehangir has said that all business processes are going to be computerised in one year to ensure quality audit reports.
Department of Auditor General of Pakistan is going to computerise all its business processes within one year so that quality audit reports are produced, stated Auditor General of Pakistan Javaid Jehangir while inaugurating the 105th Intensive Training Programme (ITP) in Performance Auditing. The 55 representatives from 12 countries are participating in this training programme.
Auditor General of Pakistan stressed the need for value addition in reporting methodology of audit observations. AGP remarked that DAGP is re-aligning itself on modern lines to cater for needs of its stakeholders including Parliament and Public Accounts Committee etc. Speaking on the occasion, the AGP also appreciated the role being played by Supreme Audit institutions (SAIs) of INTOSAI member countries in contributing towards achievement of superior objectives of transparency and accountability in public sector.
Auditor General of Pakistan also re-emphasized the importance of performance audit being the form of comprehensive audit. The improved form of audit opinion shall definitely improve the level of decision making, he remarked. While speaking on the occasion, AGP highlighted the importance of accountability framework for bringing transparency in public sector undertakings. He invited the attention of global SAIs for bringing latest changes in auditing methodology so that taxpayers’ money can be assured to be spent in the best possible manner confirming to international best practices of economy, efficiency and effectiveness. It is pertinent to mention here that each year Pakistan hosts dozens of officers from different countries and train them in the field of Performance Auditing. The AGP office has to conduct this course virtually because of Covid-19 situation this year. More than 55 officers are participating in this course via virtual meeting tool. China, Turkey, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Bangladesh, Botswana, Yemen, Oman are the few to mention. The course will comprise on two weeks till 5th March, 2021.
