FAISALABAD - In a horrific incident, an unknown person threw acid on three siblings in Faisalabad’s Karkhana Bazar area on Wednesday morning. According to rescue officials, the three victims sustained burn wounds as a result of the acid attack and were shifted to Allied Hospital for medical attention. The man who poured acid over them managed to flee the scene. According to police, Amina (17), Khadija (14) and Yousaf (12) were passing through a Draman Wali Street in Karkhana Bazaar when an unknown man threw acid on them and fled the scene. All the three siblings sustained burn injuries. The siblings were identified as 17-year-old Amina, 14-year-old Khadija, and 12-year-old Yousuf. Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has sought a report from RPO Faisalabad about an incident of throwing acid on three siblings of a family. He directed the police to enure the early arrest of perpetrators along with the provision of best medical treatment to the injured children. In another incident, Madina Town police have arrested a man for allegedly torturing a house maid child in Eden Garden executive block. The 11-year-old Safdar, a resident of Mouza Aziz near Tahirabad, Lahore road, Chiniot was house maid against the salary of Rs 6,000 per month in the house of Kashif Sheikh in Eden Garden. During medical checkup at DHQ hospital, doctors found numbers of old and new marks of torture on the body of the victim. According to medical report, the child was beaten with plastic pipes, electric wire etc. On the report of Child Bureau, the police have registered a case against the accused. Last year in July, four children were attacked with acid in Haq Town of Sadiqabad. The suspect was a teacher of the children, who was asked not to teach them over harassment allegations. Enraged, he hurled acid on them and was caught by the residents of the area before being handed over to the local police.
CPO visits driving school
City Police Officer Capt (Retd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry on Wednesday visited the driving school of Traffic Police and inspected its various sections. He directed the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) to improve driving schools according to international standard and provide maximum facilities to the trainees. He also directed to arrange wide seating capacity and provide conducive environment for under training drivers. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Shehzada Umar Abbas and other officers of traffic police were also present on the occasion.
GCUF online exams system being improved
The online examinations system in Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) is being improved according to the futuristic needs so that problems being faced by the students in online exams could be resolved on urgent basis. GCUF spokesman said on Wednesday that date sheet of the examinations had been arranged in the system by keeping in view the convenience of students and only four test slots were placed at intervals. This is first time in the history of the university that students of GC University are attempting to solve the same paper at the same time in main campus, sub-campus under semester system, he said, adding that examinations were being conducted in the best way in sub-campus.
He said that students in main campus had to face some problems in online exams due to eight slots in the system. However, chairmen of various departments, principals, controllers of examinations and director of academics were providing awareness among the students about use of online exams system properly so that students could attempt online exams without any difficulty. The university will look after needs and facilities of the students while improving online examinations system, he added.
