Mardan - The office-bearers of the Education Council Mardan (ECM) on Saturday urged the government to immediately restore the head teacher of GGPS Baricham and also conduct an inquiry against the DEO for alleged corruption and misuse of powers, a press statement said.

According to the statement, an emergency meeting of Education Council was held under the chairmanship of Ikram Bacha, president. The meeting was attended by presidents and general secretaries of 18 organisations. Chairman ECM Hafiz Mohammad Zubier, General Secretary Khalid Hussian, Farhad Takar, Mohammad Riaz, Zawar Hussain, Habiullah Bag, Farooz Ghani and others addressed the meeting.

The speakers claimed that DEO terminated the services of Naheed, Head Teacher GGPS Baricham, before the completion of inquiry report. They demanded immediate restoration of the head teacher. They said, “The government released Rs800,000 compensation for eight principals for Madaris services but the EDO removed names of the approved principals and included names of his blue-eyed teachers.” In this connection, the speakers said, three weeks ago eight principals submitted an application against the DEO Mohammad Idress Khan for alleged mismanagement in Rs800,000 compensation for the services of religious madaris.

They demanded immediately removal of the DEO Mardan. They warned that if no action was taken within three days against the DEO for his poor performance, the teachers’ organisations would start protest campaign against it.
