KARACHI - Former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that he will approach the Supreme Court with a request to revisit its decision of disqualifying him after the retirement of Chief Justice of Supreme Court Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, who is his relative.
Addressing the Meet the Press progamme at Karachi Press Club on Tuesday, he said the then chief justice and the court had forced him to indulge into unconstitutional activity to write a letter against the then president of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari which he refused.
Gillani insisted that being a prime minister how could he follow illegal and unconditional orders of the Supreme Court. He preferred stepping down rather than creating tussle between the two pillars of the state - judiciary and parliament.
To a question regarding Siraiki province, he said they were still in favour of the Siraiki province. He vowed that the day will come when people see Siraiki province in Pakistan.  About kidnapping of his son Ali Haider Gilani, he said he was contesting the election and his kidnapping puts a question mark on fair, free and transparent elections.
About the cases against him, he said he was innocent as he submitted his detailed statement to the FIA but they did not present before the court and were misguiding the judges. “I appeared before the court without any bail and asked the judges to arrest me if I am on fault. The judges, after reviewing the case, have now suspended the arrest warrants,” he added.
He supported the action against terrorists operating from Waziristan.
Former premier also condemned the Lahore incident in which eight people including two women have lost their lives and demanded the impartial inquiry into the tragedy.

INP adds: An anti-corruption court in Karachi on Tuesday granted bail to former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in 12 corruption cases.
Meanwhile, a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued for former Commerce Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim.
Gilani and Amin Fahim are accused of alleged involvement in a case pertaining to Rs 7 billion corruption in the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).
Gilani and Fahim, alongwith former and serving officials of the TDAP had been booked for their alleged involvement in approval and disbursement of fraudulent trade subsidies.
The case in this regard had been registered by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) when Faheem was the Commerce Minister. Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday appeared in the Federal Anti-Corruption Court.  A large number of PPP supporters were present outside the Anti-Corruption Court and were chanting slogans to show solidarity with their party and the leader.  It may be mentioned here that the provincial government of the PPP had imposed Section 144 across the province that prohibits the crowds to hold rallies.
