Awais wins cycle race of Punjab sports festival


LAHORE - Awais Ali of Faisalabad won the  66KM Professional Cycle race, the last event of the Punjab Sports Festival concluded here on Saturday.
The riders were flagged off at 11am from Old Ravi Inter-change. The Secretary Sports Allah Bakhsh  and DG Sports Usman Anwar along with other officials were also present on this occasion.
The race was culminated at the same point from where it started. Awais received a cash prize of Rs.200,000, while the runner-up received Rs 150,000 and the third placed got Rs 100,000. In women’s fun cycling race of 22km started from the same point, Fizza of Lahore won the event with 46:15sec while Sadaf of Faisalabad stood second and Malaika of Gujranwala was third.
Two special persons. In the 22km race, Tariq secured first position covering the distance in 34:40, M Ibrahim got second while M Azeem got third position.
The 22 km winner received Rs 50,000 while runner-up got Rs 40,000 and third spot holder took Rs.35,000.
