Three more children die in Tharparkar

KARACHI/THARPARKAR - Three more children died in Tharparkar due to drought and epidemic diseases, mounting the death toll to 204 on Thursday. The three children died in the District Headquarter Civil Hospital in Mithi.
Poverty, nutrition, preterm births, lack of awareness and drought are main reasons of the death of children in desert areas of Tharparkar.
The District Headquarter Civil Hospital in Mithi serves about one million inhabitants of Thar, coming from villages and towns. There is a facility of 13 ventilators in Mithi Civil Hospital. Hundreds of people have migrated to Badin and other areas due to the inadequate measures of the Sindh government.
Famine-struck people have demanded the government to announce a package for their ease.
Moreover, law enforcement agencies took 8 suspects into custody during search operations in different parts of the city. According to police sources, a suspect was also killed during a clash with the police in Manghopir area. Ammunition was recovered from his possession. Search operation was conducted by Rangers in Malir area. Rangers took five suspects into custody during the operation. Search was also conducted in Ghareebabad area by security forces and 3 suspects were arrested.
Meanwhile, two men on Thursday were injured in different road mishaps in the metropolis. According to rescue sources, Karim Bux, 50, was injured when an unidentified speeding vehicle hit him near Nadra office at Malir. He was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for an autopsy. A youth, identified as Faizul Hasan, 24, a resident of North Karachi, was injured when an unidentified speeding vehicle hit him near Disco Morr. He was brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy. Moreover, a woman on Thursday committed suicide by eating poisonous substance in the metropolis. According to rescue sources, Hina, 28, wife of Zafar, committed suicide by eating poisonous substance in her house near FB Industrial Area. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, two men were shot and injured by unidentified armed men in the metropolis on Thursday.
According to rescue sources, Arshad, 30, a resident of Lines Area, was shot and injured by unidentified armed men near post office in Old Golimar. He was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.
A security guard of MMS security company was shot and injured when he offered resistance against robbery at his house, sector 11/A, in North Nazimabad. He was brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
