Activity as usual as stock market closes flat

LAHORE - Business resumed on the first day of business week Monday in Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) with some activity but again remained limited, flat and dry. Though last week business witnessed an upward change in KSE-100 which gained only one point on Thursday but whole week along with last Friday business registered no change and was closed at 9,184.09. It seemed that liquidity shortage and floor mechanism would haunt the already flat and dull market and the bench-mark index would also remain dry and flat in the current business week as investors and brokers are in mood to sit aside. National Assets was the scrip which led the market volumewise. Total 57 scrips traded in the bourse in which four companies recorded gains while three scrips sustained losses and seven scrips remained unchanged out of 14 traded. The turnover at the local bourse remained modest as total trading volume remained at 87,200 shares. The highest trading on Monday was seen in the scrip of National Assets which shed its value of Re 0.06 closed at Re 0.44 with volume of 40,000 shares followed by Gharibwal Cement which gained Re 0.79 closed at Rs 16.99 with volume of 13,000 shares.  Habib ADM Ltd was the scrip which dipped down to Re 0.21 closed at Rs 9.99 with volume of 6,500 shares. UDL Modaraba and Southern Electric were the scrips which gained Re 0.20 and Re 0.01 closed at Rs 3.25 and Rs 3.61 with volumes of 6,000 and 5,500 shares respectively. Nimir Resins and Nimir Industries Chemical remained unchanged closed at Rs 5.05 and Rs 2.13 respectively with volumes of 5,000 each. NIB Bank also remained unchanged closed at Rs 8.45 with volume of 2,000 shares. While Mukhtar Textile gained its value of though meagre Re 0.01 closed at Re 0.55 with volume of 1,000 shares. Pak Datacom, Descon Oxychem and Pak Telephone remained unchanged closed at Rs 46.00, Rs 9.74 and Rs 5.40 with volumes of 1,000, 1,000 and 500 shares respectively. Sitara Energy shed its value of Re 0.25 closed at Rs 19.50 with volume of 500 shares. While Habib Bank Ltd remained unchanged closed at Rs 138.45 with volume of 200 shares. Meanwhile, the KSE-30 index remained unchanged and closed at 9981.93 points and KMI-30 index with no change closed at 11224.18 points. While, Lahore Stock market witnessed unchanged trend as LSE-25 index closed at 2825.36 points. Total turn over however witnessed upward trend at 54,000 shares. In all the 76 companies transacted on the day, no scrip could move up and no scrip moved down and rates of all other scrips remained unchanged. ZELP remained unchanged closed at Rs 1.16  with volume of 37,000 shares followed by NIRE which also remained unchanged closed at Rs 5.05 with volume of 17,000 shares.
