Metro’s donation for earthquake victims of KP

LAHORE (PR): Habib-METRO Pakistan (House of Habib) & METRO-Habib Cash & Carry Pakistan arranged 9 tons of essential relief items of food and non-food including blankets, pillows, jackets, sweaters, pulses, flour and sugar etc for the earthquake affectees of Shangla in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. As the weather has changed, these earthquake affectees will now be dealing with extreme weather conditions and these goods will provide instant relief for at least 500 families with food supplies lasting for 3 weeks.
Volunteer employees of METRO-Habib Cash & Carry Pakistan are accompanying two trucks of essential relief goods which are dispatched from METRO-Habib Cash & Carry Pakistan Model Town Store. These relief goods will be distributed among the earthquake affectees of Shangla with the help of NDMA.

Zong inks contract with HEC
ISLAMABAD (PR): Pakistan’s most advanced and only 3G + 4G operator Zong has signed a contract with HEC for the provision of wireless broadband services on laptops to be provided to the students across the country under the “Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme Phase-II”.
The objective of HEC and Zong is to provide reliable and efficient connectivity access to students by provision of Wireless Broad Band Services and enhance their knowledge base across the country. Chairman & CEO Zong Liu Dianfeng said, “We appreciate PM’s vision for putting more emphasis on education and vesting in the betterment of people of Pakistan.

SBC elects office bearers

KARACHI (PR): Swiss Business Council (SBC) has elected office bearers for 2015-16. Asif Ikram was elected unopposed as president, Arshad Saeed Husain as vice president and K.M. Iqbal as company secretary & treasurer. The following members were also unanimously elected as directors: Yasmin Peermohammad, Mujtaba Rahim, FarukhMazhar, Ahmed Naveed Chaudhary, Jamil Hassan Hamdani and Farhat Ali.

LAHORE (PR): Car makers are investing billions of dollars to add new technologies that, it turns out, are not being utilized by many of the owners of those vehicles, according to a recent report. In fact, the report finds that at least 20% of new-vehicle owners have never used 16 of the 33 technology features measured. Carmudi, the easiest way to buy and sell your car online, has analyzed data based on hundreds and thousands of global listings uploaded to the company’s car classifieds website to determine the most in-demand features worldwide.

JS Bank sponsors event

LAHORE (PR): JS Bank Limited sponsored the Institute of Cost and Management Accounts of Pakistan (ICMA) conference themed “Responsible Leadership for Sustainable Economy” in Bhurban (Murree).
The MAIC is held after every three years and has emerged as the most anticipated calendar event of the institute. The key objective of JS Bank to sponsor this event was to facilitate the emerging economics.

Stanford University-HU MoU

KARACHI (PR): Habib University and Stanford University, USA, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the exclusive Stanford Summer International Honors Program (SSIHP). The agreement gives HU students unprecedented access to an 8-week immersive educational experience at Stanford University, providing them with unique learning opportunities.
At the MoU signing ceremony, HU was represented by the HU President, Wasif Rizvi, while the Associate Provost and Dean of Continuing Studies and Summer Session, Stanford University, Dr. Charles Junkerman, represented Stanford University.

Microsoft conducts event

LAHORE (PR): Microsoft Pakistan has conducted an enlightening ‘Bloggers Evening’ in Lahore. A large number of bloggers and young digital enthusiasts were invited to the event, where the team of Microsoft experts disseminated valuable information to enhance the skills, knowledge and outreach of the participating audience.
The speakers and participants held enlightening discussions about the needs and benefits of upgrading their computers, and to make optimum utilization of the powerful features in the ‘Microsoft Windows 10’, which has been launched on a global scale recently.
The bloggers event was also enriched with a briefing about the Microsoft Innovation Center (MIC). Microsoft has launched the ‘#UpgradeYourWorld’ campaign’ in Pakistan, to create awareness among school children, about the benefits of upgrading computers to the latest Microsoft ‘Windows 10’ – the bloggers event proved to be an exciting element of this new campaign. Numerous events will be held in rural areas of Punjab to provide exposure into the new Microsoft Windows 10 technology.

Awareness walk

ISLAMABAD (PR): UN-HABITAT and UNICEF organised a walk at National University of Science and Technology (NUST) as a preamble to the World Toilet Day to be held on 19th November, 2015. The walk was organized to increase awareness regarding sanitation and hygiene in Pakistan.
This walk is a part of the international ‘Urgent Run’ advocacy campaign and is an integral part of the series of initiatives taken in Pakistan by UN-Habitat and UNICEF for World Toilet Day under the theme ‘Better sanitation for better nutrition’. The walk was organized by UN-HABITAT and UNICEF in collaboration with NUST NEC.
