CM urges unity to cope with terror

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the entire nation is united to meet the challenge of terrorism and we all are committed to make the country strong and stable. He said that enemies of peace want to destabilise the country but we will foil their nefarious designs with the force of unity. He said that officers and officials of law enforcement agencies by crushing the terrorists have set a glorious example of gallantry and dutifulness and Shuhada and Ghazis have given a message to the nation that their guardians are fully alert. He expressed these views while addressing prize distribution ceremony at Chief Ministers Secretariat here Saturday of officers and officials of security forces who displayed outstanding performance against terrorists. The Chief Minister distributed cash prizes of Rs 5.9 million among the officers and officials for displaying courage and bravery against the terrorists. Provincial Minister for Law, Rana Sanaullah Khan, Advisor Jehanzeb Burki, Inspector General Police Tariq Saleem Dogar, Home Secretary Nadeem Hassan Asif, Commissioner Lahore Division Khusru Pervez, Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Pervez Rathore, SSP Operations Ch. Muhammad Shafique and other senior officers were also present on the occasion. Continuing, the Chief Minister said officers and officials of law enforcement agencies by eliminating terrorists have given a message that Pakistan came into being for the supremacy of rule of law and justice and the nation is capable of dealing with any challenge with courage and steadfastness. He said the martyrs who laid down their lives countering terrorists have added to the history a new chapter of bravery with their blood. The CM said their sacrifices will not go waste and the whole nation is proud of its heroes. He said purpose behind holding this prize distribution ceremony is to tell the nation that our security forces are fully alert and alive to protect the citizens. He said that for checking such incidents, we are further improving the performance of the institutions. The Chief Minister appreciated the performance of Col(r) Shuja Khanzada, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, Home Secretary, Commissioner and DCO for displaying sense of responsibility during the incidents of terrorism in Lahore. While appreciating Commandant Elite Training School Col Ikramullah, DIG Elite Force Ch. Tanvir Ahmad and police officers and officials on their outstanding performance, the Chief Minister prayed that may Allah Almighty give us courage to continue to serve the people of the province. Provincial Minister, Rana Sanaullah Khan said on the occasion that the Punjab government policy is that along with punishment for dereliction of duty there should be reward for dutifulness and Punjab Chief Minister is always in search of opportunities for giving awards on the dutifulness which was a must to eliminate terrorism in the country. IG Tariq Saleem said that Punjab Chief Minister is taking keen interest in the welfare of Punjab police and Punjab police under his leadership will leave no stone unturned to eliminate terrorism and crimes. He resolved to live up to the expectations of the people. He thanked the Chief Minister for encouragement of law enforcement agencies. Shahbaz Sharif awarded Rs 1 million and Rs five lakh along with commendatory certificates to Commandant Elite Training School Lt Col Muhammad Ikramullah and Maj Shuja Akbar respectively. He also gave away Rs 3 lakh and commendatory certificates each to Lance Nike Tahir Iqbal, ASI Muhammad Riaz, Head Constable Muhammad Musa, Recruit Constable Sher Muhammad, Hawaldar Constable Syed Shamsuddin, Head Constable Shahid Mehmood, Constable Shahid Mehmood, ASI Maqsood Ahmad, Head Constable Muhammad Ajmal, Constable Muhammad Iftikhar, Constable Muhammad Irshad, ASI Muhammad Tanvir and ASI Muhammad Hussain besides Rs 5 lakh and certificates were given to the staff of Rescue 1122. The Chief Minister also gave commendatory certificate to CCPO Lahore Pervez Rathore, DIG Elite Tanvir Ahmad, SSP Operations Ch Muhammad Shafique, SSP Operations Civil Lines Dr Haider Ashraf and Inspector Syed Sohail Hussain Kazmi. He went to the seat of injured Constable Muhammad Iftikhar and gave cash prize and certificate to him and embraced him on his courage.
