ISLAMABAD - Former Interior Minister and PPP senior leader Senator A Rehman Malik has paid rich tribute to the martyrs of Karsaz and their families.
He said that October 18 was a painful and unforgettable day in history of Pakistan and the pain of the tragedy shall remain in the hearts forever. He said that heart-breaking scene of the fallen corpses of comrades in Karsaz who he had witnessed while accompanying Benazir Bhutto is still in front of his eyes. Malik said that Benazir Bhutto had started her journey on October 18, 2007, but was attacked at Karsaz. More than 200 innocent workers of PPP became victims of the bomb blast but the crime scene was washed away by the killers within an hour to hide their crime and the last investigation officer was also murdered later.
He said that threats to life and bomb blasts could not keep Benazir Bhutto away from her workers and till the last moment of her life, she remained among her workers. He said that Benazir Bhutto sacrificed her life fighting the terrorists upholding flag of democracy and poor people. He said that unprecedented sacrifices of PPP workers will remain in the PPP and Pakistan history forever.
Malik said that he proposes to establish a trust in the name of Shuhada-e- Karsaz to look after families of Shuhada. He said, “We must own the families of martyrs and they may be provided houses from the Sindh government’s housing schemes.”
He said that sacrifices of the PPP for the integrity and prosperity of the country and the stability of democracy are unmatched. He said that terrorism has inflicted an irreparable damage on Pakistan and nasty terrorists shall never be forgiven for their brutalities. He said that this day in 2007 terrorists “who are enemies of the country and humanity, had bathed our soil in blood.”
