KARACHI - Pakistan Peoples’ Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Sunday announced nationwide protests against the record inflation in the country saying that their protest would continue until Prime Minister Imran Khan’s rule is over.
“All ticket holders, MNAs, MPAs and will stage protest against inflation and unemployment in the country,” he said while addressing a gathering at Bagh-e-Jinnah to mark Karsaz bombing on October 18, 2007 in which at least 150 people had died.
Bilawal said that Imran Khan used to say that “when inflation rises, it means the prime minister is corrupt”, and today the country was at a historic high of inflation which means that we have the “most corrupt prime minister in the history of Pakistan.”
“Today everything from wheat to sugar is being sold at record high prices. Imran Khan has destroyed the economy of this country,” he added. The PPP chairman said that his party was protesting against the “PTIMF” economic policy from day one in a bid to stop the government from taking anti-people steps.
He further announced the Foundation Day gathering of the party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the PTI stronghold in November.
The PPP Chairman stressed that it would be the people of Pakistan who would decide the next government in the country and they would not allow anyone to decide regarding the prime minister of Pakistan.
The selected prime minister wanted media, social media and institutions to act like his Tiger Force, he said adding that they would not permit him to do so and warn Imran Khan that his end has begun.
The PPP chairman said that Imran Khan attacked the Parliament, Senate, judiciary, ECP, Punjab police, and Punjab bureaucracy. “No institution is left as he is even trying to make the media his Tiger Force,” Bilawal alleged. He said that the PPP has been protesting against the injustices of the incumbent government and would continue to do so.
He criticised the authorities for jailing top PPP leaders including Asif Zardari and Syed Khursheed Shah and said that they had been put behind bars despite none of their leaders being named either in the Panama Papers or in the Pandora Papers.
“The PPP leadership has never bowed down and even its workers ran towards the party leadership when the bomb exploded on BB’s return on October 18,” he recalled the incident while praising the courage of party loyalists.
He said that everyone is sensing the next PPP government and they are the only ones that could challenge a puppet government. “Every promise made by Imran Khan has turned out fake and he took a U-turn on them including development for Karachi, five million homes and 10 million jobs,” he said. He announced that PPP would never break trust of masses and would announce a salary raise and jobs soon after resuming their tenure.
