LAHORE - Asad Zaman (McDonald’s) claimed two titles and Bilal Asim U-18 singles title in the PLTA Punjab Junior Tennis Championship 2021, which concluded here at the Punjab Tennis Academy Bagh-e-Jinnah on Friday.
Asad Zaman first lifted the boys U-14 title by defeating Hussnain Ali Rizwan 6-2, 6-3. Both the players started the match well but Asad then started playing aggressive game and put Hussnain under tremendous pressure to win the first set 6-2. In the second set, Asad faced resistance before winning it 6-3. The U-14 champion doubled his crowns, when he clinched boys U-14 doubles title. Asad, partnering with Shehryar Anees, played well against promising pair of Husnain Ali Rizwan and Hamza Ali Rizwan and won the title match 6-4.
“My efforts have started bearing fruit and I am keen to won more titles at national level before starting my international tennis career. I am thankful to my coach Rashid Malik (ZTBL), joint coach Faheem Siddiqui, my supporter Tariq Zaman for their all-out support, which is helping me achieve my set goals of becoming an international player,” said Asad Zaman of McDonald’s.
In the boys U-18 final, Bilal Asim (SICAS Gulberg) played superb tennis against Asad Zaman and overwhelmed him 6-0, 1-0 (rtd) to lift the title. Rizwan brothers, Haider Ali and Hussnain Ali, the brilliant students of LGS Paragon, earned the boys U-18 doubles title by beating the pair of Faizan Fayyaz and Shaeel Durab 8-4.
Zahra Suleman (Gulbarge Chanan Tennis Club) displayed high-quality tennis skills and techniques against Ashtafila Arif to claim the girls U-18 title. She won the final 6-0, 6-0. After registering another title victory, Zahra thanked her coaches M Baber, Ahmad Baber and Omer Baber for their able guidance and training and vowed that she will work harder to win more titles at national level.
In the boys/girls U-12 final, Hamza Ali Rizwan (LGS Paragon) outclassed Abdur Rehman 8-0 to win the title. The boys/girls U-10 title was won by promising Abdur Rehman (AAA Associates), who overwhelmed young Fajar Fayyaz 8-0. In boys/girls U-8, Mustafa Uzair Rana win gold medal, Eman Manoo silver medal and Aiman Rehan bronze medal. In boys/girls U-6, Daniyal Afzal Malik clinched gold medal, Soha silver and Mamnoon Bari bronze. PLTA Secretary Rashid Malik graced the concluding ceremony as chief guest and distributed prizes and shields among the winners.
