MULTAN - Students between the age of 15 to 17 years would be inoculated Pfizer vaccine on campus soon by the health department teams after confirmation of their ages through B form, said an official source on Friday.
The source informed media that Chief Executive Officer (CEO) District Health Authority, Dr Shoaib Gurmani had spoken to Divisional Director Colleges, Dr Farid Sharif in this connection.
As soon as the lists of the students in age group from 15 to 17 years were compiled by the educational institutions, vaccinators would visit to immunise them, the source said and added that the plan has been devised to accelerate the vaccination for them. Government has recently announced Pfizer shots to adolescents falling between 15 to 17 years against the virus and directed health department to reach out the students on campuses for this purpose, the source maintained.
Administration for crackdown against expired, fake medicines
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Amir Karim Khan directed health department to launch crackdown against medical stores involved in selling expire and fake medicines across the district. Presiding over a meeting of district drugs quality control board on Friday, the DC said that no one would be allowed to put public lives on risk.
He said that quacks and medical stores involved in illegal practices would be treated with iron hands.
He said that the medical stores would be sealed over sale of expired, fake and prohibited drugs. The DC directed health department and drugs inspectors to launch comprehensive crackdown against quacks and bogus medical stores. He also ordered inspection of medicines supply line from companies to medical stores. During the meeting, the board sent different cases against medical store owners to court.
Development work of parks
to be completed within a month: DG PHA
Director General (DG) Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Syed Shafqat Raza said that ongoing development of Shah Shams Park would be completed within a month to restore recreational activities for masses.
During his visit to parks and different green belts of the city on Friday, the DG PHA expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of development work and poor cleanliness and snubbed officers concerned for negligence.
He said that restoration of recreational activities at parks was top priority and no negligence would be tolerated in this context. He said that construction of jogging tracks, gazebos and toilet blocks have been completed. He said that the PHA administration would look after all the administrative matters of Jinnah Park.
He directed officers to pay special focus on cleanliness of green belts and trimming of saplings.
