Nisar, Shahbaz meet COAS

ISLAMABAD - Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif on Monday met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in Rawalpindi, a media report quoted sources as saying.
The report said it was agreed during the meeting that dialogue should be opened immediately with Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) to listen to their demands.
During their meeting, the army chief discussed the 'Revolution March' and 'Azadi March' being held in the federal capital, the report quoted sources.
They also discussed the security situation in the country along with issues related to law and order, said the report.  They meeting comes at the heels of the PTI chief Imran Khan and PAT chief Tahirul Qadri holding rallies in Islamabad.
Rs 8 billion for Zarb-e-Azb
The Ministry of Finance on Monday ordered the Accountant General Pakistan Revenue (AGPR) to release Rs 8 billion to the Ministry of Defence for the operation Zarb-e-Azb.   
The sanction letter in this regard was issued by the ministry on the special directive of Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, who had already approved an amount of Rs 15 billion for the operation, a ministry spokesman told APP.
He said the remaining Rs 7 billion would be released by month-end. The Ministry of Defence had requested to release the amount. The spokesman said the finance minister had also approved Rs 20 billion as tariff subsidy for life-line consumers, who used upto 50 MW electricity.

The amount had been released to the Ministry of Water and Power for onward distribution to Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and independent power producers (IPPs) to improve power generation.
It may be mentioned that Secretary Water and Power Nargis Sethi briefed the Committee on Energy Resource Rationalization the other day about various issues being faced by the ministry.
The committee was formed by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to address various issues faced by the ministry of water and power in collecting receivables from various sectors.
