The Cecil & Iris Chaudhry Foundation (CICF) has expressed anger and sorrow over the brutal terrorist attack on the third Sunday of Advent at Bethel Memorial Church in Quetta. The attack has left 13 people dead and over 65 injured.
Michelle Chaudhry President of The Cecil & Iris Chaudhry Foundation (CICF) strongly condemned the cowardly and inhuman attack on innocent worshippers “we are heartbroken, hurting and very angry, the state of Pakistan has once again failed to protect the lives and property of its citizens. It is the primary responsibility of the Government to ensure safety and protection of every citizen and their places of worship. The state must fulfill its promise of being the guardian to the life and property of all its citizens regardless of religion, caste and gender” Ms Chaudhry stated.
Demanding accountability The CICF President said “we demand of the government to hold the perpetrators accountable. It is imperative for the authorities to make every possible effort to root out the scourge of terrorism; how many more lives can we lose? How many more families need to be shattered? The governments both federal and provincial need to assert their powers and jointly work on a strategy to defeat human massacre caused by terrorism.”
The Cecil & Iris Chaudhry Foundation (CICF) yet again demands the implementation of the Supreme Court Judgement of June 19, 2014 and questions the ineffectiveness of the 20 point National Action Plan (NAP) which was established to curb terrorism in totality. The implementation of both is pivotal.
Mourning the loss of lives Ms Chaudhry stated “We at The CICF stand in complete solidarity with the bereaved families and hold deep in our hearts all those who lost their precious lives in this dreadfully tragic incident in Quetta today.”
