OKARA - A seminar on ‘Traffic Rules Awareness, was organised at the University of Okara in collaboration with the regional police authorities.
The Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar, the Regional Police Officer Ahmed Arslan Malik and the District Police Officer Rana Faisal Shehzad discussed various behavioural, societal and infrastructural matters with the students in an interactive session.
Addressing the students, the VC said that the traffic problems was a matter of behavioural change and this would emanate from the university education.
He further said: “Universities and nations rise and fall together. We will address all issues through community outreach. Okara will soon become a knowledge-intensive city”.
The students raised certain reservations regarding the traffic infrastructure of the university’s surrounding areas and demanded the district authorities to take drastic initiatives to address such problems.
Answering to their questions, the RPO said, “Police is a reflection of the society it operates in”.
He encouraged the students to work for inculcating moral and ethical values in the society so that the policing responsibility of the state could be shared.
At the end of the seminar, more than 100 helmets were distributed among the students with high grades by the regional Police Department.
