Consultative session on STPF held in Peshawar

PESHAWAR  -  New trade opportunities can be found by thinking out of the box and exploring new markets.  

This was stated by Zahid Ullah Shinwari, president of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KPCCI), while addressing a consultative session on formulation of Strategic Trade Policy Framework (STPF) 2018-2023 held at Peshawar.  

The seminar was jointly organised by the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Peshawar to consult with the relevant private sector stakeholders to understand the problems faced by the business community in exporting as well as importing. More than 60 stakeholders from the public sector, private sector and academia including chamber of commerce and trade associations participated in the discussion.  While addressing the gathering, Shinwari highlighted the problems and lack of support from the government departments in advancing trade opportunities.  

He underscored the need for constructive collaboration between public and private sector for export success.  

Noman Aslam Shaikh, Director General (Trade Policy), Ministry of Commerce, flagged the desire and willingness of MoC to work hand in hand with private sector to address problems associated with international trade. He stressed the need of public-private partnership for policy formulation and implementation to realize export targets and to undertake concerted efforts in this connection. 

Sarir Uddin, Director TDAP, and Shahab of Charsadda also addressed the gathering. He assured that TDAP is well placed and holds full capacity to provide the needed assistance to private sector. He vowed to leave no stone unturned for trade development in KP.
