Bahawalpur - Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab Capt (Retd) Saqib Zafar has said that future data should be prepared by compiling accurate data of available resources so that national resources can be utilised in the best possible way for the welfare of the people. He was addressing a high level meeting of all secretaries of South Punjab at South Punjab Secretariat Office, Bahawalpur.
Secretary Planning South Punjab Syed Shoaib, Secretary Agriculture Saqib Ali Oteel, Secretary Local Government Amir Aqiq Khan, Secretary S & GAD Noshin Malik, Secretary Irrigation Amir Khattak, Secretary Health Muhammad Nadir and other secretaries were present in the meeting.
The Additional Chief Secretary said that indicators have been introduced to evaluate the performance of the Secretaries of South Punjab to ensure faster and more effective monitoring of development sectors.
Stresses timely, transparent utilisation of development funds
He said that timely and transparent utilization of development funds should be ensured. He said that all measures should be taken for timely completion of all development projects in South Punjab. Supervising officers should play a dynamic and effective role in the field, he said. Capt (Retd) Saqib Zafar said that the budget of South Punjab has been increased from Rs 189 billion to Rs 192 billion.
Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab further said that 2853 projects are being implemented in 11 districts of South Punjab. About 215 Education 210, Highways 631, Buildings 161, Agriculture 25 and Local Government 429 projects.
He said that projects of public interest with the release of 100% funds should be completed as a matter of priority.
He directed to hold weekly meeting on progress. In the meeting, secretaries of various departments briefed about the performance of their respective departments.
