LAHORE - On the special instruction of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, the government has started work on projects worth billions of rupees for providing relief to the Lahorites.

The chief minister is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of Gulab Devi Underpass and Lahore Bridge expansion projects on Monday (today). He will be briefed by the Director General of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) about the projects. Usman Buzdar has said that Lahore is the heart of Pakistan.

Projects of former rulers have proved to be white elephants

Meanwhile, the chief minister said in a statement that work had already been started on projects worth billions of rupees for the development of Lahore city. Criticising the previous government, he said that the self-exhibitory projects of the former rulers became a burden on the national exchequer as the needs and the preferences of the people were ignored in the previous regimes. “The projects of former rulers have proved to be white elephants,” he added. Usman Bazdar said that the current government had started projects keeping in view the needs of the citizens of Lahore, adding that for the first time the neglected areas of Lahore were included in the development journey. He assured that record development works would be completed in Lahore city in the next two years. “The former rulers,” he said, “believed only in lip service. Those who are crying for the past three years will continue to do so for the next two years.”
