Sunni Tehreek leader moves LHC against his entry ban

LAHORE - Pakistan Sunni Tehreek leader Sarwat Ejaz Qadri yesterday filed a petition in Lahore High Court against Home department for banning his entry in Punjab province.

Qadri submitted that the Home department imposed the impugned ban on his entry to the province in violation of his fundamental rights. He stated that application filed against the ban had been pending before the secretary interior for weeks.

The petitioner prayed to the court to set aside the notification issued by the interior ministry and lift the ban on his entry to Punjab.

Punjab government had imposed the ban on the entry of Sarwat Ejaz Qadri in the province in February this year.

The interior ministry held that his presence in the province might disturb law and order situation.
