GCU names its Squash Complex after Jansher Khan

LAHORE - Squash legend Jansher Khan along with Vice Chancellor Prof Asghar Zaidi inaugurated the ‘Jansher Khan Squash Complex’ at Government College University (GCU) Lahore on Thursday. 
Earlier when Jansher arrived at the university to attend the 1st All Pakistan Summit for Students’ Societies, he was accorded a historic welcome. Hundreds of students participating in the summit from different universities stood on both sides of the road and welcomed the legend. The GC University named its Squash Complex after Jansher Khan in recognition of his tremendous services for Pakistan. Punjab Squash Association (PSA) President Noor-ul-Amin Mengal was also present on this occasion. 
Speaking on the occasion, Jansher said squash courts and other facilities should be established in all educational institutions of Pakistan from schools to universities. He said Pakistan was full of talent which needed to be tapped by providing ample opportunities. GCU VC Prof Zaidi also announced establishing a sports school at its Kala Shah Kaku (KSK) Campus, which would act as a nursery to produce talented sports players. 
Later, Jansher Khan called on DG Sports Punjab Javed Chohan at his office. After a detailed meeting, Jansher and other officials also visited the under-construction state-of-the-art Squash Complex in Nishtar Park Sports Complex. Javed briefed the legend that eight squash courts including six practice courts are being built in this grand complex. 
Jansher expressed his delight over the construction of Squash Complex in Nishtar Park Sports Complex. “It is nice to see a world-class modern squash arena being built in Lahore. Now international squash players and teams will visit Pakistan to feature in world squash events,” he added.
