Hyper- inflation continues to erode our economic strength but this recent imposition of general sales tax (GST) on certain edible and other items will unfold a new wave of deadly inflation for the poor people, who already are paralyzed and selling their children for survival. This hike in GST on food and other items is not justifiable in any manner by our rulers and economic managers. We all know that the rulers, bureaucrats and technocrats are selfishly eating all of the resources and revenue generated from taxes and other sources and giving nothing in return for the welfare of the people of Pakistan.
Those who understand simple principles of economics and also the economy of Pakistan are struck by the economic wisdom (better to call it callousness) of economic and financial managers in Islamabad. Now the question arises: Why this insensitivity towards the poor people of Pakistan? Is there anyone in this government who thinks about the well-being of the hungry and thirsty people of Pakistan?
