Pakistan’s '1st legal music app' aims to empower music in the country!

Musicians all over Pakistan have also expressed their support for the Taazi platform

Taazi.com, Pakistan’s 1st legal music app and website, announced today that they have crossed 100,000 Taazi app downloads from the Google Play Store. This makes the total registered users on both the App and Website in excess of 150,000, making Taazi Pakistan’s no.1 ranked music platform and social network.

Taazi app, launched in August 2015, at O My Buns! in Lahore attempts to create a revolution in the Pakistani music industry by giving power back to the artists. The star studded event was attended by the like of Fariha Pervaiz and Noori, who showed their support for the app and the need for a legal music system.

What is unique about Taazi? The musician gets to retain their music rights! Talk about being fair and empowering our local talent.

Taazi provides a platform to Pakistani artists to distribute and sell their songs to fans legally. Soon after launch, the Taazi Android app reached the number 1 spot in the trending apps section on Google Play Store. It achieved the second highest rank among all apps in the Music & Audio category. It was second only to SoundCloud and was ahead of Saavn and Gaana.com. Currently, Taazi ranks among the top 5 applications in this category.

The total number of songs and videos streamed on Taazi has exceeded 5 million in the last month. More than 2,500 artists and dozens of record labels, who vehemently support Taazi as a legal music platform, have uploaded over 100,000 songs.

Streaming on Taazi is free for the users but they must pay to download songs. Taazi users are eagerly paying to download songs and are generating sales well into the tens of thousands of rupees. This way they are supporting the local artist community as well as the music industry. Established and upcoming musicians alike have started earning from putting their content on Taazi. This shows that their unique payment method, paying by cellular phone credit, has found significant traction.

The founder of Taazi, the well-known musician Haroon says, “It is heartening to see that when given the choice, the Pakistani people choose a legal music platform. They have expressed that they stand in support for our music and musicians and Taazi proudly enables them to do so”. Taazi is supporting Pakistani artists by marketing their work through social media campaigns and local events as well.

Musicians all over Pakistan have also expressed their support for the Taazi platform. Rock star Ali Azmat says, “Everything is beginning to change and Taazi is a big part of that change”. Adnan Dhool of the rock band Soch says, “When we first started, we had no idea an online platform, where artists could make money, could ever be possible.” Singer Nouman Javaid adds, “The inherent problem with Pakistani music is that it is not easy to discover. Taazi will change that.”
