Mabali Pakistan Open Tennis Championship begins

LAHORE - The Mabali Pakistan Open Tennis Championship 2021 commenced here at the Punjab Tennis Academy, Bagh-e-Jinnah, where men’s singles first round matches were played here on Monday. 

According to Tournament Director Rashid Malik (Tamgh-e-Imtiaz), the event includes only men’s singles and men’s doubles categories. In the men’s single first round, Pakistan No 1 Aqeel Khan was up against Shakir Ullah and he took little time to overwhelm him 6-2, 6-1. Aqeel were off to a flying start in the first round match, where he showed his class right from the word go and won the first set 6-2. He played more aggressively in the second set and took it 6-1, thus advanced to the next round. 

In other first round matches, Ahmad Kamil beat Usman Rafiq 7-6, 6-3, Mahatir Muhammad beat Sikandar Hayat 1-6, 6-2, 6-2, M Shoaib beat Faizan Fayyaz 6-0, 6-1, Ahmad Babar beat Saqib Hayat 6-1, 6-3, Huzaifa Abdul Rehman beat Heera Ashiq 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, Imran Bhatti beat Shehzad Khan 2-0 (rtd), Abdullah Adnan beat Asad Ullah 6-1, 6-2, Zeeshan Shiekh beat israr gul 7-6(5), 6-3, M Abid beat Parbat kumar 6-0, 6-1, Yousaf Khalil beat nalain Abbas 6-1, 6-2, Hamid Israr beat Fayyaz Khan 4-6, 6-1, 6-3, Barkat Ullah beat Jabir Ali 6-3, 6-2, Muzamil Murtaza beat Arham Attique Khan 6-2, 6-2.
