HAFIZABAD-A rift between two PML-N factions came to surface as both the groups held Eid Milan Party separately last night claiming the support of equal number of councillors of Hafizabad Municipality.
These factions are led by MPA Malik Fayyaz Ahmad Awan and the father of State Minister Saira Afzal Tarar. Mian Afzal Hussain Tarar has nominated ex-MPA Haji Jamshaid Abbas Thaheem while Malik Fayyaz Ahmad Awan has nominated his nephew Malik Gul Nawaz Phool Awan for the slot of chairmanship of the MC. Both the groups showed 20 councillors in their function out of 39 councillors. One of the councillor was seen in both the functions.
Addressing the councillors of his group, Afzal Tarar claimed that he has the support of more than 20 councillors and the chairman of the MC would be with his consent.
Malik Fayyaz Ahmad Awan also claimed the support of similar member of councillors and said that Malik Phool deserves the slot of chairmanship. According to local political pundits if the rift cropped up between the two factions of the PML-N was not defused, the party would lose majority of the old PML-N workers/electorates from the city during the next general election.
