KPK to give Rs2,000 unemployment allowance

PESHAWAR - Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will start giving Rs2,000 monthly unemployment allowance to the jobless masters degree holding youth until they get employment.
This token financial assistance will be provided to all the youth who have acquired 16-year education whether modern or religious, KPK Higher Education Minister Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani said on Saturday while addressing as chief guest to the 21st convocation of Jinnah College for Women University of Peshawar.
The ‘stipend’ to the jobless youth would be given on merit. The provincial government was fully committed to provide funds for the purpose, he added. The PTI-led government, he informed, had already established an endowment fund of Rs500 million for the financial assistance of the poor and needy students. “We believe in brining positive change through imparting quality education”.
Mr Mushtaq Ghani said that talented students of the province seeking admission in foreign reputed universities and centres of excellence would be provided financial assistance by the provincial government. About brining improvement in the quality of teaching and research, he said that each year some 150 lecturers of various government colleges would be given scholarships for higher studies to strengthen their academic background.
Around 350 graduates for the sessions – 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 – were conferred degrees in the yearly convocation of Jinnah College for Women, held on the eve of the golden jubilee of the college. Degrees were awarded in three different categories comprising BA, BSc and BS Economics.
Gold medals were given to shining students, including Ms Hafiza Saadia Rehman (first position in BSc session-2011), Sana Shah (BA session 2011), Sidra Saeed Qazi (first position in BSc 2012), Neelam Shahi Mulk (top position in BA session 2013) and Aisha Irum (first position in BS economics 2008-12).
Prominent among others who also attended the convocation were University of Peshawar Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan, Jinnah College for Women Principal Prof Dr Neelofar Zeb Arbab and Registrar Dr Syed Fazli Hadi.
On this occasion, Mr Ghani asked VC Dr Rasul Jan to provide technical support in establishing education city at district Swabi. In his speech, Rasul Jan said that this year’s graduates are special, as they are golden jubilee students of this prestigious college. He urged upon the students to strive to be good citizens and work for the promotion of enhancing female literacy rate in the province. Earlier, JCW principal presented the college annual report and highlighted key points related to the achievements of the college.
