Muzammil, Ushna claim BB National Tennis crowns

LAHORE - Muzammil Murtza and Ushna Sohail (Wapda) claimed the men’s and women’s singles crowns in the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed National Tennis Championship that concluded at ITC on Sunday. 
In the first men’s singles final, Muzammil Murtaza had to struggle hard to beat spirited Muhammad Shoaib 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. In the women’s singles final, Ushna of Wapda emerged as title winner after a well-contested match against Sarah Mahboob (Wapda) at 6-3, 6-1. Though not much visible from the score, the first set was well contested, both players holding serves till 3-all. Breaking serve at 4-3, Ushna stayed focused, with long rallies at each point, winning at 6-3. 
In the second set, with consistent, aggressive baseline and volleys, Ushna clinched title at 6-3, 6-1. Commenting after the match, Ushna said: “I played consistent game, with confidence and focus though first set was close and could have been any one’s match. My hard work paid well and I am looking forward to win more titles.”
In the men’s doubles final, Aqeel Khan and M Abid beat Heera Ashiq and Yousaf Ali 6-3, 6-0 to clinch the title. Amna Ali Qayyum earned two crowns in the event as she first beat Zunaisha 4-4 (4-7), 4-1, 5-3 to win the U-14 girls title and then she beat Sheeza Sajid 6-1, 6-2 to lift U-18 girls title. 
Abdullah Adnan won the boy’s U-18 title by beating Hamid Israr 6-3, 6-4 wile M Salar claimed boy’s U-14 title by defeating Ibrahim Ashraf 4-5(6) 4-2, 4-1. Hamza Roman grabbed boy’s U-12 by routing Abdul Basit 4-1, 4-0. Senator Taj Haider and Senator Farhatullah Babar were the chief guests at the concluding ceremony and distributed trophies and cash prizes to the players.
