On TV channels in talk shows, whenever a PPP minister or senator is asked a question about what have they done in the last two years, they come up with three things; Army operation in FATA, the NFC award and the Benazir Income Support Program. As far as the Army operation is concerned, the present rulers have nothing to do with it. Neither they started it nor they can stop it. The NFC award they have given but it has made no difference in the life of an ordinary citizen of Pakistan. It does not help a common man at all. Benazir Income Support Program is another fiasco. Can this scheme help 180 million people of Pakistan? This is simply a cheap popularity gimmick. Some PPP supporters also claim that the PPP workers laid down lives for the restoration of judiciary. This claim has no basis either. The sacrifices which were given were given by the PPP of Benazir Bhutto and not by the PPP of Asif Zardari. Mr Zardari once said on TV himself that his party never promised restoration of judiciary as their slogan, he said, was Roti, Kapra and Makan. I am positive had Benazir been alive today, Mr Zardari would not have been anywhere near the Pakistani borders. And may I say that the little Roti, Kapra and Makan that people had during the Musharraf days is gone during two years of the PPP.
