SIALKOT - As many as 5,000 cases regarding refund claims of Sialkot business community are lying pending with the Regional Tax Office due to which the Sialkot exporters are facing financial problems, said the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Sheikh Abdul Majid said that the main reason behind the situation was inordinate delay in the regular appointment of the senior officials on key posts at the Regional Tax Office Sialkot.
He said that there was no chief commissioner or any additional commissioner appointed at Sialkot Regional Tax Office since long due to which, the business community was facing multiple problems related to the income and sales tax matters.
In addition, the SCCI president revealed, the number of such cases is increasing by 300 to 400 cases every month. Regional Tax Office is one of the most important tax offices dealing with the refund mattes of Sialkot exporters. He added that instead of providing facilitation in refund matters, the Federal Board of Revenue has allegedly left important posts of higher officials vacant at RTO Office Sialkot resulting in increase in pendency of refund claims.
