NAG displays artist’s Sufism depictions




ISLAMABAD – Third solo show  ‘Bas Tu...’ of Arjumand Awan opened at Nomad Art Gallery (NAG) on Saturday that is an expression of her strong belief about God’s presence in life.
‘It is about the healing of soul, it is the connection of heart and it is the expression on the existence of HIS presence. “Bas Tu... is how I have expressed my strong belief to His presence in life. Although the concept has been wandering in my mind for many years now and for the first time, I am sharing it through my art,” shared Arjumand Awan.
She believed everyone has his or her own manner of expression. But ‘mine has always been painting. Bas Tu... depicts a glimpse of how Sufism develops a connection with one’s soul. Bas Tu... is not decorative, political or commercial; it is expressive, spiritual, emotional and very personal.
Arjumand is a self-taught artist with extensive experience. She has 9 solo and 7 group exhibitions on her credit in the country and abroad besides she has won numerous awards and prizes for her creative work. In 1994 she was awarded gold medal award by the former Prime Minister Muhtarma Benazir Bhutto for paintings on human rights. The exhibition will continue till January 31.
