Opp for early consultation on caretaker setup

KARACHI - The opposition parties in Sindh Assembly have demanded the government to start consultation with them on formation of caretaker government immediately as tenure of the present assemblies is completing in March.
Talking to The Nation, the leaders of the opposition parties also demanded Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Khuhro to notify MPA Nusrat Sehar Abbasi of PML-F as the opposition leader in the provincial legislature with immediate effect.
This scribe talked with half a dozen lawmakers from opposition benches in the Sindh Assembly, who emphasised on Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah to start consultation process for formation of the caretaker setup on urgent basis.
MPA Nusrat Sehar Abbasi, a designated opposition leader by her party PML-F with the support of other colleagues of the opposition parties, said that her party had decided to approach the court against the delay in issuance of the notification to declare her opposition leader by the Speaker Sindh Assembly.
She opined that the PPP government has to start consultation with the opposition parties immediately on the formation. She said that as capacity of opposition leader designated, her party will also consult with other opposition parties whether they are in the Assembly or not part of the parliament, on the proposals for the formation to finalise the name of caretaker chief minister in the province.
Another lawmaker Razzak Rahimon of PML-Likeminded also expressed similar views. He demanded the Sindh chief minister to start consultation with the opposition parties on the caretaker setup.
Though, the tenure of sitting Sindh Assembly will expire on the April 11 but government has decided to announce the dissolution of the assembly same day of national and other three provincial assemblies.
“If the assemblies are going to dissolve in first or second week of March then the government has to start contacting and meeting with the opposition groups to consult on the formation caretaker setup in the province,” Rahimon argued, demanding that they will not accept the caretaker government if brought as deal among the PPP and the MQM.
Meanwhile, MPA Arif Mustafa Jatoi of National Peoples Party supporting the stance of other colleagues, advised the PML-F to write a letter to the Sindh Chief Minister to start consultation on formation of caretaker setup with the opposition immediately.
However, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Saturday said that the opposition would be consulted on formation of the caretaker setup in the province.
Talking to media persons at Sukkur Airport, Sindh CM said that when time of completion of present assemblies come close the government will talk to PML-F chief Pir Pagara and other opposition parties.
