LHC upholds death sentence of terror convict

MULTAN: A division bench of Lahore High Court Multan Bench upheld the conviction of Mian Channu blast accused Master Muhammad Riaz and rejected his appeal against the sentence handed down by an Anti-Terrorist Court.
He was sentenced to death on 14 counts and 95 year jail by Anti-Terrorist Court No-11 Multan in June 2012 and he had filed an appeal in LHC against the verdict. At least 13 persons including a real brother of the accused namely Yousuf and sister Fatima were killed while another 29 injured when a big blast took place at his home in Chak 129/15L in Mian Channu on July 13, 2009. City Police Mian Channu registered a case against him for storing explosive material at home for terrorism intent and he was sentenced by ATC-11 Multan.–Staff Reporter
