Army chief confirms death sentence to 10 terrorists

ISLAMABAD -  Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday confirmed death sentence awarded to 10 militants by military courts for their involvement in various acts of terrorism.

‘Hardcore terrorists’ were convicted of killing innocent civilians and soldiers and attacking law enforcement agencies, armed forces personnel and educational institutions of the country, said an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement.

The 10 convicts were behind the killing of 41 security personnel and injuries sustained by 33 others, the ISPR said.

Arms and explosives were also recovered from their possession.

In addition to the 10 militants, three other convicts were awarded imprisonment of varying periods by the military courts.

According to details, convicts Samiur Rahman son of Gul Habib, and Azeem Khan son of Shaiber were members of a proscribed organisation.

They were involved in attacking law enforcement agencies and armed forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Major Muhammad Ihsan, nine soldiers as well as two police officials and injuries to 13 others.

They were also found in possession of fire arms and explosives.

These convicts admitted their offences before the magistrate and the trial court.

Both convicts were awarded death sentence.

The convicts Arshad Bilal son of Khadim Khan and Anwar Ali son of Fazal Ghaffar were members of a proscribed organisation.

They were involved in attacking armed forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of nine soldiers and injuries to nine others.

They were also involved in destruction of Government Boys Primary School, Langer, Swat as well as found in possession of fire arms and explosives.

These convicts admitted their offences before the magistrate and the trial court.

Both were awarded death sentence.

Convicts Muhammad Aleem son of Abdul Rasheed and Fazal Aleem son of Abdul Rasheed were members of a proscribed organisation.

They were involved in attacking law enforcement agencies and the armed forces of Pakistan, which resulted in the death of four soldiers.

They were also involved in destruction of Government Boys High School, Nangolai, Swat.

These convicts admitted their offences before the magistrate and the trial court.

Both convicts were awarded death sentence.

The convict Rasool Muhammad son of Ahmed Jan was a member of a proscribed organisation.

He was involved in attacking law enforcement agencies and the armed forces of Pakistan, which resulted in the death of four soldiers.

The convict also abetted other terrorists in slaughtering of civilian Said Raheem as well as assistant sub-inspector Irshad Ali, head constables Sarwar Ali Khan and head constable Sher Ahmed of police. The convict admitted his offences before the magistrate and the trial court.

He was awarded death sentence.

Convict Sohail Ahmed son of Usman Ali was a member of a proscribed organisation.

He was involved in killing of innocent civilians and attacking law enforcement agencies of Pakistan, which resulted in death of three civilians, sub-inspector Mustafa Khan, a constable of police and injuries to four others.

He was also found in possession of explosives.

The convict admitted his offences before the magistrate and the trial court.

He was awarded death sentence.

Convict Naimat Ullah son of Ahmed was a member of a proscribed organisation.

He was involved in attacking the armed forces of Pakistan, which resulted in the death of two soldiers and injuries to four others.

He was also found in possession of fire arms and explosives.

The convict admitted his offences before a magistrate and the trial court.

He was awarded death sentence.

Convict Rehmat Ali son of Noor Said was a member of a proscribed organisation.

He was involved in attacking the armed forces of Pakistan, which resulted in the death of a soldier.

He was also found in possession of fire arms.

The convict admitted his offences before the magistrate and the trial court.

He was awarded death sentence.
