Afghan Embassy's plea seeking possession of liquor rejected

ISLAMABAD The local court has rejected the Afghan Embassys appeal to get possession of liquor that the city police recovered on June 30 from a house situated in posh Sector F-10, TheNation learnt on Monday. The other day Afghan Embassy claimed the ownership of the stock and approached to a local court to get possessions of the seized liquor. Police sources said the Afghan Embassy through its lawyer produced documents before the court claiming ownership of small quantity of liquor but it could not satisfy the court. It rejected its appeal, as the Embassy owned small quantity of liquor out of 26000 bottles and it could not satisfy the court about remaining liquor. It may be recalled here that Shalimar police had raided on a house situated in F/10/1 and recovered approximately 26000 bottle of liquor. This stock of liquor was recovered from a house where a female attach of the Philpine Embassy was residing in one of its portions, while the Afghan Embassy was using its lower portion as a warehouse. According to police that one Malik Javed had owned that he had got the said house on rent for the female attach of Philippine Embassy but she was not using its lower portion. According to police, some people were using this portion to run liquor business. On the other hand, an Afghan diplomat wishing not to be named said that there were only 400 bottles belonged to the Embassy and it had all legal documents. To a query, he said that the consulate had noting to do with remaining consignment. He confirmed that their appeal had been rejected.
