LAHORE - Of the 26 colleges given administrative and financial autonomy in Punjab in order to start BS (Hons) four years degree programme, six are in the provincial metropolis. Three of them are boys colleges while three are girls colleges. These are Government Islamia College Civil Lines, Government Science College, Wahdat Road, Government MAO College, and Government College for Women Samanabad, Government College for Women Gulberg and Government College for Women, Cooper Road. Two women colleges are affiliated with Lahore College for Women University while two boys and Government College for Women, Cooper Road, are affiliated with University of Punjab. All these college were affiliated with the University of Punjab for BA and MA, MSc annual programmes while their BS (Hons) will be affiliated with the PU, GCU and LCWU. As such the course of BS programme outline will be compatible to that of respective universities with little variation. The higher education department has divided the autonomous colleges for the affiliation purposes to six renowned universities in public sector in Punjab to facilitate smooth working and to ease burden on the Punjab University. These universities are located in the proximity of the respective colleges. A notification of affiliation has also been issued. The respective principals have been advised to work out the capacity building programmes in consultations with their supervising university. They have also been advised to add items over and above the estimates, already provided to the department in order to be incorporated in the consolidated PC-I 4 Meanwhile Govt SE College, Bahawalpur, and Govt Sadi Degree College for Girls, Bahawalpur, have been affiliated to Islamia University Bahawalpur. Govt College DG Khan and Govt College for Women, DG Khan, Government Emerson College and Govt College Katcheri Road, Multan, Govt College Sahiwal, Govt Postgraduate College for Women Sahiwal have been affiliated with Bahauddin Zakriya University, Multan while Govt College for Women and Govt College for Boys, Satellite Town Gujranwala, with Punjab University Govt Murray College Sialkot and Government College for Women, Katchery Road Sialkot, Govt Gordon College, Rawalpindi, Govt Postgraduate College for Women, Sattellite Town, Rawalpindi, Govt Postgraduate College Jehlum and Govt Postgraduate College Chakwal have been affiliated with University of Gujrat. Govt College of Science, Wahdat Road Lahore, with Govt College University, Lahore, Govt College for Women, Samanabad and Govt College for Women Gulberg with Lahore College for Women University, Govt Ambala Muslim College, Sargodha, and Govt College for Women, Chandni Chowk Sargodha, with University of Sargodha, Govt College Samanabad, Faisalabad, and Govt College for Women Madina Town Faisalabad have been affiliated with Govt College University, Faisalabad.
