Sajida removed from PPP office

LAHORE - PPPs diehard worker Sajida Mir has to suffer another blow for maintaining contacts with Senator Safdar Abbasi and his wife Naheed Khan, as she has been removed from the office of party president (women wing) City chapter on Saturday. PPP circles privy to the developments regarding Sajidas removal told this scribe the decision to remove Sajida from the party office was taken in the backdrop of her scuffle with her party colleague Fouzia Behram inside the provincial assembly premises. However, she was 'targeted for the second time for maintaining contacts with Senator Safdar Abbasi and his wife Naheed Khan as they are believed to be dissidents among the party ranks against the current high command of PPP. Faryal Talpur, central president PPP (women wing) has issued a notification regarding removal of Sajida Mir from the office of party president (women wing), Lahore, while Faiza Malik, general secretary (women wing) City chapter has been appointed as the acting president. Meanwhile, several old guards of PPP seeking anonymity said party decisions aimed at targeting diehard workers due to difference of opinion with certain members of the partys 'upper echelon would weaken the party. They said the so-called inner circle of the party had already managed to sideline the 'real jiyalas in the party in order to continue their business, which was not possible in the presence of 'hardcore and idealist activists. When contacted, Sajida Mir to get her comments, she said, Only the poor suffers the heat of rules and regulations, while the rich easily evade them. She said, Her only asset is her political struggle for the party, which she started with ZA Bhutto Shaheed. She did not own assets in terms of financial benefits. Particularly on the question of her removal, Sajida said she had no words to comment on the issue, as it was the prerogative of the partys high command to give someone any responsibility of the party or take it back at any moment. However, she also said there had been scuffles in the party in the past but those were resolved, as it was the task of the top leaders to calm down any untoward incident among the party ranks. Sajida said Shaheed Benazir Bhutto gave her the responsibility of party president (women wing), Lahore, when she was going in exile, while she accepted the challenge during the tough times of the party and fulfilled her duties with utmost zeal and fervour. It is pertinent to add Sajida Mir has to lose her position as chairperson standing committee on health of the provincial assembly last year for taking part in political activities with Safdar Abbasi and Naheed Khan.
