Police unable to stop vehicles of MPs of ruling party

ISLAMABAD   -   Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Islamabad Muhammad Faisal Kamran has revealed that PTI members of National Assembly, belonging to Karachi, transported the party workers to Sindh House by dodging the heavy security in the capital’s Red Zone.

“How can police stop the vehicles of MPs of ruling party, with two or three party workers on board, for checking?” he asked, adding that the tension grew when the PPP supporters denied the access of the two MNAs to the Sindh House to meet with Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah.

Dozens of protestors of PTI ferried in the cars of MNAs stormed into the Sindh House by breaking the main gate earlier on Friday. “We had arrested 13 workers of ruling PTI and put them behind the bars besides filing FIR against them,” the SSP said.

He said it was conveyed to Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Communication Dr Shehbaz Gill to not earn disgrace for the government by staging protests and attacking government buildings. “Shehbaz Gill and other government functionaries showed big hearts by asking police to register cases against the workers of PTI instead of pressuring police to release them,” the SSP said.

In another development, PPP MNA Qadir Mandokhel has filed an application under section 22-A of Cr.PC with court of District and Sessions Judge Islamabad seeking registration of First Information Report against those involved in attacking Sindh House.

Additional Session Judge (West) Farrukh Farid Baloch took up the application and issued notices to the parties by postponing hearing till March 28. PPP MP Qadir Mandokhel, in the application, argued that a complaint has been lodged against the attackers with Police Station Secretariat but police had not filed case so far.

He added those nominated in complaint had committed henious crime by launching attack on Sindh House. “It was not just an attack rather a naked attempt of spreading terrorism” the applicant said. He said the Station House Officer of PS Secretariat is hesitating in filing FIR against the attackers and had released the accused on pressure of government ministers and advisors.
