Peshawar - More than 30 workers of Civil Aviation Authority at Bacha Khan International Airport tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday, a day after dozens of passengers were declared corona positive at the airport.
Sources in the Peshawar airport said that the authorities had started disinfecting the airport premises after about 32 CAA workers were found corona positive. The employees having tested positive have been working in the sections of vigilance, airport service and bridge operators.
Earlier on Tuesday, around 28 passengers having returned from Bahrain had tested positive for the contagion at the Peshawar airport. Later, they were moved to a quarantine centre.
The CAA had also revoked the licence of an airline on May 16 (Sunday) after it brought 27 passengers from Dubai and those later tested positive for the virus. CAA declared that the airline’s negligence posed a threat to people’s live in the airport. The airlines were warned that they might get banned in Pakistan if found violating COVID-19 SOPs.
The CAA has already issued new protocols for inbound flights in the ongoing month as the airlines have been directed to keep 20% seats vacant and ensure distancing among passengers.
